Supramolecular self-assembly

We test a variety of organic molecule assemblies on metal surfaces, with potential interest in optoelectronics and solar cell research. Molecules are deposited in-situ by electron-beam evaporation, and the resulting systems analyzed by STM, XPS, UPS and NEXAFS, the latter involving synchrotron radiation. We aim at understanding the in-balance of the system interactions, namely molecule-molecule and molecule-metal, in particular in donor-acceptor bicomponent mixtures.
